ROUNDUP : Dominguez Hills Baseball Team Sweeps CS Stanislaus

The Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team swept a doubleheader from Cal State Stanislaus, 11-1, 4-3, on Saturday at Toro Field.
Dominguez Hills (6-0), ranked 13th in a preseason NCAA Division II poll, is off to its best start since 1981. The 1981 team started 7-1.
In the first game, Ken Gajewski pitched six shutout innings and Ariel Martin hit his first grand slam. Martin added a double in the fifth inning. In the three-game series with Stanislaus, Martin went four for seven with two doubles, a home run and seven runs batted in.
Stanislaus (0-7) took a 3-1 lead in game two, but Greg Bergeron singled in a run to tie the score in the fifth and drove in Eric Shibley with the game-winning run on a single in the seventh.
Shibley had stole second and third base with one out to set up Bergeron’s game-winning hit. Junior Eric Duncan struck out seven in 3 2/3 innings of one-hit relief.
Third baseman Aaron Misasi went five for five in the doubleheader and center fielder Bill York drove in two runs in game two.
The Toros leave today for a three-game trip to Arizona. They will play Grand Canyon University on Monday and third-ranked Arizona on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Loyola 45, San Diego 40--Tanya White scored 12 points and Sheri Brown added 11 points and 14 rebounds to lift the Lions to a West Coast Conference victory at Gersten Pavilion.
The Lions (14-8, 5-5 in league) held San Diego (11-9, 5-4) to 25.9% shooting from the field. Jill Shaver led San Diego with 15 points.
Loyola will play host to Pepperdine on Wednesday.
