COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Fullerton Women Win; Golden West Takes Title

Fullerton upset Orange Coast, 59-58, in an Orange Empire Conference women’s basketball game Friday at Fullerton College.

OCC’s loss, combined with Golden West’s victory over Rancho Santiago, clinched the conference championship for Golden West.

Traci Conte had 12 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals to lead the Hornets (14-17, 4-7). Ricarda Kuypers had 16 points to lead OCC (23-5, 7-3).

In other conference games:

Golden West 103, Rancho Santiago 65--Erika Miller had 25 points and Michelle Kravik and Cinnamon Basco each scored 20 to lead Golden West (30-2, 10-0).

In the Cypress-Kiwanis baseball tournament.

Cypress 8, Merced 7--Gary Manley’s two-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Cypress (4-1) the victory in a second-round game.

Cypress will play Moorpark in a third-round game at 10 a.m. today.

In the Southwestern baseball tournament:

Orange Coast 9, Grossmont 7--Kiki Blanchet hit a two-run double to spark a six-run inning for the Pirates (2-3) in a second-round game.
