Six antique violins valued together at about $200,000 were recovered Friday at the home of two men whom police say planned to get sell them for about $100.
Akop Kalyan, 21, and Ashot Chilingarian, 25, were booked for investigation of burglary and held on $25,000 bail, said Los Angeles Police Detective Bill Martin.
“They were hoping to sell them for $50 to $100,” Martin said. One violin had a 1739 production date.
The violins were stolen Wednesday from the home of Benjamin Rosen, 98, a violinist and music store owner, Martin said.
A neighbor who saw the daylight burglary wrote down the license plate number on the getaway car, Martin said.
