Coalition Honors Killingsworth

Long Beach architect Edward A. Killingsworth and his firms were honored by the Long Beach Heritage Coalition for 40 years of contributions to architecture.

The coalition’s first Award for Excellence in Architecture was presented to Killingsworth and the three firms he has headed: the first in association with Jules Brady and Waugh Smith, later to become Killingsworth, Brady & Associates, and since 1982 the firm of Killingsworth, Stricker, Lindgren, Wilson & Associates.

During his 40-year career, Killingsworth and his associates won 42 major architectural awards.

A private residence designed in Long Beach’s Naples neighborhood was selected as one of the 16 best buildings erected in the United States and his Cambridge office building, a designated Long Beach Historic Landmark, won international recognition in 1961.
