WILL & GIL: They rarely see eye-to-eye on anything, but Assembly Speaker Willie Brown, above, has agreed to join Assemblyman Gil Ferguson at the Newport Beach lawmaker’s economic “mini-summit” next Friday in Orange County. . . . Ferguson expects those talks to set the stage for Brown’s own economic summit in Los Angeles in mid-February and help convince the speaker that government red tape is hurting business. . . . “I think Willie is more realistic this year in recognizing that California’s in a heap of trouble,” Ferguson says.
