BURBANK : City Votes to Limit Street Vending
- Share via
The Burbank City Council tentatively approved an ordinance limiting street vendor activities in some parts of the city at the request of the Chamber of Commerce and local street vendors.
The ordinance prohibits peddling from any one place for longer than 15 minutes, vending from non-motorized vehicles such as push carts and displaying goods outside a vehicle.
Chamber representatives, in a report to the council, criticized street vendors on grounds of safety, traffic disruptions and “aesthetic problems.”
However, the rules would not apply in the central business district--bounded by Magnolia Boulevard, 3rd Street, Verdugo Avenue and 1st Street--to vendors who buy a newly established downtown peddling license for $100 per year.
