Austin scored 66 points in three San Gabriel Valley League games. He had 22 points in a 74-53 victory over Warren, 24 in a 72-55 win over Paramount and 20 in a 70-52 win over Downey.

Avondre Jones, a 6-foot-10 senior center at Artesia High, scored 65 points, had 34 rebounds and 18 blocked shots in three basketball games. Jones had 19 points, 11 rebounds and 8 blocked shots in an 81-43 Suburban League win over Mayfair. He had 13 points, eight rebounds and six blocked shots in a 77-46 triumph over Norwalk. Then, in a 62-60 loss to Morningside, he had a career-high 33 points and added 15 rebounds and four blocked shots.

Yaphet Wiltz, Bellflower High basketball center, scored 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a 76-57 Suburban League win over Glenn. He added 20 points in the Buccaneers’ 56-52 victory over La Mirada.
