POMONA : Suspect Arrested in Taxi After Restaurant Hold-Up
A Pomona parolee allegedly held up a fast-food restaurant early Wednesday, then made a failed getaway attempt in a taxi.
Demison q Grenton, 20, was arrested shortly after the 1:52 a.m. holdup at a Burger King in the 500 block of East Foothill Boulevard, Pomona Police Lt. Archie Johnson said. Grenton allegedly “accosted the assistant manager after closing, as she was going to her car,†Johnson said. “At gunpoint, he ordered her back into the business, and had her empty out the safe.â€
The woman called police and officers spotted a Yellow Cab leaving the area and stopped it, Johnson said. Grenton, who was in the cab, was arrested on the spot and police recovered a loaded, .22-caliber revolver and the money allegedly taken in the holdup.
Grenton, who Johnson said was on parole for armed robbery, was being held without bail.
