WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : Santa Clara Can’t Stop Williams in a 63-54 Victory for Bruins

Natalie Williams had 26 points and 15 rebounds as UCLA downed Santa Clara, 63-54, Monday night in a women’s college basketball game Monday at Pauley Pavilion.
The Bruins (5-4), who won their fourth consecutive game, never trailed, but Santa Clara (5-4) pulled even at 41-41 on a basket by Jenny Baldwin with 15:13 left.
UCLA scored the next 10 points, with Williams and Detra Lockhart each scoring four.
The Broncos closed to within 55-52 with 2:38 left, but a basket by Williams and four free throws by Nichole Anderson made it 61-52 with 41 seconds remaining.
CS Long Beach 80, CS Fullerton 78--Chenise Butler scored on a five-footer with 14 seconds left to give the 49ers a Big West Conference victory over the Titans at Long Beach.
Long Beach (3-6, 2-0) had a 76-71 lead with 3:05 remaining when Allison Jackson scored seven consecutive points to give Fullerton (2-6, 0-2) a 78-76 lead with 1:43 left, capping the surge with a three-point play.
Melissa Gower got Long Beach even on a basket with 1:21 to play.
