VALLEY ROUNDUP : Brothers Combine for 22 Points to Lead Thousand Oaks Over Simi

Nick Foster scored 12 points and twin brother Paul added 10 to lead Thousand Oaks High to a 49-46 victory on Monday against visiting Simi Valley in a Marmonte League basketball game.
The Lancers (11-1, 2-0 in the league) led by one point after three quarters, but extended their margin with a 6-0 run in the fourth quarter. Peter Lauer helped seal the win for Thousand Oaks by making three free throws in the game’s final minutes.
Ryan Briggs scored 18 points and dished out seven assists for Simi Valley (10-4, 1-1), which was limited to 16 rebounds.
In other boys’ games:
Agoura 77, Channel Islands 60--Jeff Niemann scored 23 points to lead the Raiders (8-3) in a Marmonte League opener against visiting Channel Islands.
Agoura’s Benon Ureda scored 15 points and Ben Richardson added 14.
Notre Dame 68, Chaminade 55--Swingman Monte Marcaccini scored 29 points and point guard Craig Johnson scored 18 to lead the Knights (10-3) to their sixth straight victory. The game was the Mission League opener for both teams. Chaminade drops to 4-6 overall.
Alemany 71, St. Bernard 68--David Winner scored 22 points and Chris Bello dished out 15 assists for the Indians in a Mission League opener. Alemany (5-6) has won four of its past six after starting the season 1-4.
Chris Engler (12 points), Chris Walker (11) and Doug Tait (11) also scored in double figures for the Indians. Tait pulled down 10 rebounds.
St. Bernard (4-9) was led by Darren Mitchell, who scored 22 points.
St. Genevieve 66, L.A. Baptist 55--Ryan McGinnis scored 14 of his game-high 36 points in the fourth quarter to help the Valiants (7-7) beat L.A. Baptist (6-5) in a non-league game.
McGinnis, who was five of seven from three-point range, scored 14 of the Valiants’ 22 fourth-quarter points, helping extend a three-point lead to 10.
Loyola 108, Harvard-Westlake 60--The Wolverines (4-8) played their Mission League opener without leading scorer J. W. Hobson, who is out indefinitely with mononucleosis.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
The Master’s 91, St. Ambrose 61--Seven players, including all five starters, scored in double figures to lead the Mustangs (7-8) past visiting St. Ambrose (6-9) in a nonconference game.
Emeka Okenwa scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Mustangs, followed by Andy Thompson (13), Don Peters (12), Doug Leaman (11), David Humphreys (10), Terry Minndy (10) and James Mosley (10).
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Cal Lutheran 61, Mills College 51--Aimee Snider scored 19 points and sisters Evelyn and Nicole Albert added 15 apiece to lead Cal Lutheran (4-6) in a nonconference game.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Harvard-Westlake 2, Loyola 1 (OT)--Dwight Angelini scored in the eighth minute of overtime to lead the Wolverines to victory in a Mission League opener for both teams. Angelini scored both goals for Harvard (6-0-1) and Mike McDonald scored for Loyola (8-3-2).
Angelini took a cross-field pass from Billy Eddy, then beat a defender and shot the ball into the lower left corner for the winning score.
St. Francis 4, St. John Bosco 3--Erik Hewko scored two goals to lead the Golden Knights (7-1-1) in a Del Rey League opener against St. John Bosco (6-3-1).
Bishop Montgomery 4, Crespi 2--Despite goals by Sean Coumans and Mark Herz in a Mission League opener, the Celts (0-8-1) remain winless.
Alemany 2, St. Bernard 0--Del Vargas and Scott McMenamin scored and goalkeeper Carlos Castellanos posted his third shutout of the season, lifting the Indians (4-3-1) to a victory in a Mission League opener.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Chaminade 3, Notre Dame 0--Eagle goalkeeper Heather Salzer posted her seventh shutout of the season and 33rd of her career, leading Chaminade to a victory in the Mission League opener for both teams.
Salzer needed to stop only three shots to blank the Knights (3-7-3). Tami Pivnick, Shelbi Thiele and Erin Nooman scored for Chaminade (6-2-2).
Alemany 5, St. Bernard 0--Five Alemany players scored and the Indians outshot the Vikings, 38-5, in the Mission League opener for both teams.
Rosana Mellon, Michelle Bush, Celina Mashagh, Shannon Sgro and Katie Piroutek scored and Jamie Malkin had two assists for Alemany (6-5-1).
Louisville 4, Bishop Montgomery 2--Julie Ley scored two goals to lead Louisville (8-2-1) in a Mission League opener.
