Three Pacoima men were arrested Sunday in Simi Valley after a resident found them attempting to break into his car, police said.
Joel Galvin, 20; Alfredo Pena, 19, and Rafael Arreola, 26, were arrested Sunday morning on suspicion of attempted vehicle theft, burglary and possession of stolen property, police said.
The arrests came after Simi Valley resident Hermenegildo Quezada, 20, was awakened about 4:15 a.m. by sounds outside his house and saw three men tampering with his car, which was parked across the street, police said. Quezada’s wife called police while he went outside and confronted the men. The three fled but were stopped minutes later by an officer who had heard about the incident over the police radio, police said.
Searching the suspects’ car, police found items that had been taken from Quezada’s vehicle, in addition to numerous car stereos and other property believed to have been stolen in previous incidents.
