ORANGE — A missing 17-year-old’s car has been found “stripped and vandalized” in Compton, and police here asked for the public’s help Saturday in trying to find the youth.
Police said Stuart Tay, who lives on Chandler Ranch Road, has been missing since 4 p.m. Thursday, when he drove on an errand to Costa Mesa. Relatives began searching for him when he did not return by nightfall, and his mother filed a missing person report Friday with Orange police.
Late Friday night, Compton police found Tay’s sports car. Police said the car had been looted, but there was no sign of Tay.
Orange Police Lt. John Higley on Saturday called the circumstances of the case “ominous.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Orange police at (714) 744-7403. Tay was described as Asian-American, standing 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, with black hair and dark eyes. He was wearing black, metal-frame prescription glasses.
