Marina del Rey : Interim Harbors Director
Los Angeles County supervisors Tuesday appointed former county official Eric Bourdon as interim director of the county Department of Beaches and Harbors, which oversees county beaches and publicly owned Marina del Rey.
Bourdon, who retired last March as assistant director of the department, will return to work next week while a search for a permanent director is conducted. He replaces former director Ted Reed, who retired earlier this month because of health considerations.
The appointment of Bourdon comes at a critical time for the county, which is preparing to renegotiate rents on Marina del Rey properties with developers who operate the marina’s apartments, hotels, restaurants, offices, shops, and boat slips on long-term leases. The county is also considering plans for future development in the marina and extension of existing leases on the valuable waterfront property.
Bourdon will be paid $9,462 a month plus benefits and can serve for most of the new year under terms of an agreement approved by the supervisors.
