Yugoslav Inflation Soars: The annual inflation rate in Yugoslavia has hit 20,000%, fueled by international sanctions and a serious drought. The federal statistics institute said retail prices rose 23 times in 1992, making the cost of living 89 times higher than last year, while wages had been halved from 1991 levels. Because of a serious drought over the summer, agricultural production dropped by one-fifth, and production of grains and industrial crops fell by 40%.
