Monterey Park : ‘Operation Find’ to Begin
- Share via
The Police Department will start a new program Tuesday to help track adults who become lost or missing because of language barriers or illnesses.
The program, called “Operation Find,” was developed to help new elderly immigrants and people who have Alzheimer’s disease or similar illnesses. People at risk can be registered with an information card that includes their photograph.
Police say they started the program because they sometimes come across a person who is lost, disoriented or unable to communicate with an officer because of a language barrier.
Officers spend hours driving the person around, trying to locate his or her home.
Registration for the free program will be held 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the police department headquarters. Information: (818) 307-1211.
