OUTLOOK
Koehler picks Troy to win the league title, but even without All-Southern Section selection Zrinka Kristich, who is playing at UCLA, La Habra still has three experienced starters and also added a couple of freshmen 6 feet and taller. All-league players Hernandez, Kelley and Ploog return from last season’s championship team. The Highlanders advanced to the first round of playoffs, where they lost to Mission Viejo by a point. “Troy High School will probably be favored to win the league because it has four girls starting at 6-2 or taller,†Koehler said. “La Habra will be picked second and Sonora third, but La Habra could be the dark horse to win the (league) title if everyone stays healthy and the young players improve.†Koehler also favors Troy because the Warriors have four starters back. Of Koehler’s three returning starters, Hernandez and Kelley were first-team all-league selections. Hernandez averaged 10.7 points, Kelley 9.1.
