Rethinking Multiculturalism
Educators are correct in saying that emphasizing ethnic diversity creates divisiveness, something which I have been saying for years. Emphasizing ethnic diversity is like putting separate piles of meat, potatoes and vegetables on a dinner plate. A better approach would be to regard ethnic diversity as being ingredients in a stew, all mixing together in the broth of our traditional, English-based culture, with each ingredient giving its flavor to the broth and the broth being the flavor of the whole.
