REAL ESTATE : George Elkins Closes Residential Brokerage in Newport Beach

George Elkins Co.’s franchised Newport Beach residential brokerage, which specialized in expensive ocean-view properties in and around Newport Beach, has closed.
Elkins, with headquarters in Beverly Hills, once had a network of 30 residential offices throughout the Southland. Over the years, however, the company moved more toward commercial real estate and pared its residential brokerage operation to only its Beverly Hills and Newport Beach locations.
Elkins continues handling luxury residential sales and commercial transactions in Los Angeles County and retains a Newport Beach commercial operation.
The 32 residential brokerage agents at Elkins’ Newport Beach offices have signed on with a variety of area real estate offices, reports Tom Brunson, one of three former Elkins agents who are now with the Newport Center office of Grubb & Ellis.
