ANTELOPE VALLEY : Northrop to Offer Aircraft Training
A group of Antelope Valley high school seniors will receive free training from the Northrop Corp. this spring on assembling aircraft such as the B-2 bomber, as well as class credit and summer jobs with the company if they complete the program.
Eleven students will be selected to attend one of several two-hour courses weekday afternoons during the spring semester at Northrop’s B-2 worker training site in Lancaster. The new program was approved last week by the board of the Antelope Valley Union High School District.
Northrop has not sponsored such a program in the Antelope Valley for about 10 years, although it had a larger program at its Hawthorne site this year. Students who complete their 16-week course will get 10 units of class credit and a $6-an-hour summer job with Northrop for two months.
