ANTELOPE VALLEY : 5 Robbery Suspects Seized After 100-M.P.H. Car Chase
Five suspected robbers were arrested Monday after they led authorities on a wild chase down the Antelope Valley Freeway--tossing guns, jewelry and money out the window as they weaved through traffic at speeds of more than 100 m.p.h., Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
The 30-minute chase came to an end about 2 p.m. near Santa Clarita after one of the two getaway cars crashed and the other blew its engine. One of the fleeing men suffered a broken leg in the crash, but no one else was injured.
The five men were each being held in lieu of $35,000 bail on suspicion of armed robbery for the holdup of the Mills Jewelry shop in Lancaster. Robbers fled with about $120,000 worth of jewelry.
The arrested men were identified as Collis Brazil, 27; Corral Greenwood, 25, and Frank Pace, 18, all of Los Angeles. The other two men had not been identified late Monday.
