COSTA MESA : College District Board Elects Officers

Coast Community College District Trustee Paul G. Berger was elected president of the board at the annual organizational meeting this week.
Berger, who was first elected to the Board of Trustees in 1987, is a retired principal and administrator in the Huntington Beach Union High School District.
He received his Ph.D. in educational administration from UC Berkeley and his master’s and bachelor’s degrees from University of the Pacific.
Berger serves on the board of directors for Orange County United Way. He is a resident of Costa Mesa.
Trustees also selected Walter G. Howald as the board’s vice president.
Howald, an attorney and president of a law firm, has been a member of the board since 1985.
He is a graduate of the UCLA School of Law. He lives in Newport Beach.
The Coast Community College District, the fourth largest in the nation, is composed of Golden West College and KOCE-TV in Huntington Beach, Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa and Coastline Community College headquartered in Fountain Valley.
Berger and Howald will serve in their new posts until next December.
