FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Ryan Martin took only three shots in the second half, but they were all three-pointers--and he made all three to lead a Cal State Northridge rally that resulted in a 76-67 victory over Northern Arizona on Wednesday night.
The Lumberjacks (1-2) cut a 10-point deficit to 71-67 with less than a minute to play, but the Matadors (1-3) made five of six free throws in the final 38 seconds.
Junior guard Andre Chevalier led Northridge (1-3) with 22 points; Martin added 11.
“It was good to get that monkey off our back,” Chevalier said. “We didn’t want to do the same thing as last year.”
Northridge lost its first 10 games last season before winning 11 of its final 18.
Forward Demetreus Robbins had 15 points for the Lumberjacks.
