Two suspects were arrested Tuesday night in Glendale after crashing a car they allegedly stole at gunpoint earlier from a man in La Crescenta.
Luis Sergio Gutierrez, 20, of Pacoima and a 16-year old boy from Lake View Terrace lost control of the 1991 Ford Thunderbird during a high-speed chase with Glendale officers, Police Sgt. Lief Nicolaisen said. The chase started shortly after the 10:40 p.m. carjacking outside a 7-Eleven store, Nicolaisen said.
Gutierrez was arrested at the crash scene on Brand Boulevard near the 134 Freeway, Nicolaisen said. The 16-year old, who allegedly had been driving the car, ran away. A tow truck driver, who had been listening to the chase on a police radio, followed and informed officers that the suspect had entered a Red Lion Inn. He was arrested in the hotel bar.
