From Times Staff and Wire Reports

If the clouds cooperate, much of America will be able to see an event that has thrilled millions over the years. The moon will rise in eclipse, a condition that often shrouds the satellite in a blood-red or coppery color, because of the light filtering through the Earth’s atmosphere. The eclipse begins at 1:59 p.m. PST Wednesday, when the Earth’s shadow begins to cross the moon, officials at the U.S. Naval Observatory reported.
