Russian Lottery

In response to “Russia’s Poor Push Their Luck,” Nov. 23:

How tragic it is that poor Russians are gambling away their last rubles, and that their government actually sponsors this life-destroying activity by running a lottery. Maybe someday they will realize how wrong it is for the state to institute a regressive tax that takes advantage of and fosters its citizens’ ignorance and irresponsibility. In the meantime, I have this fantasy that Pravda is printing a letter identical to mine about the disgrace that is California’s lottery.
