El Camino Women’s Volleyball Team Won’t Be in Final 8
The El Camino College women’s volleyball team was eliminated from the state final eight championship tournament at Sacramento City College on Saturday. The Warriors opened the double-elimination tournament with a three-game victory over Foothill College on Friday, but lost to Golden West and Deanza on Saturday.
In Saturday’s first match, El Camino lost 7-15, 15-6, 16-14, 13-15, 10-15 to top-ranked and undefeated Golden West (24-0). The Warriors fell to Deanza (18-3) in four games later that afternoon.
El Camino (13-5), making its first appearance in the state championships since 1989, finished the season as the state’s fifth-ranked team.
“I just wanted our kids to come up and be competitive and they played competitive the whole time,†said LeValley Pattison, El Camino’s second-year coach. “Our freshmen really did a great job.â€
