Americans

I am a South African who has been living in this great country for two years and have only one major question to ask you: Namely, why do various ethnic groups all born in America, call themselves the following:

African-American; Korean-American etc.

Surely if you are born in America no matter what race, color or creed, you are an American first and foremost. I certainly don’t call myself Russian-South African because my ancestors originally came from Russia.

Perhaps it is time Americans all just consider themselves as Americans.
