L.A. Gear Expects Loss in 4th Quarter: L.A. Gear Inc. said it expects to report a loss of $27 million to $31 million from continuing operations for the fourth quarter ended Nov. 30, with operating losses continuing at least through the first half of fiscal 1993. The anticipated fourth-quarter loss represents $1.27 to $1.44 a share, bringing the loss for the fiscal year to between $77 million and $81 million, or $3.62 to $3.80 a share. The quarter’s loss reflects $10 million to realign and restructure L.A. Gear’s management information systems, reduced warehousing needs and staff reductions. It also includes a $1.1-million patent-dispute settlement.
