Russian Cadet Missing

SEATTLE — A teen-age Russian Navy cadet failed to return to his ship Monday before it departed the Port of Seattle and was apparently seeking asylum, officials said. Alexei Sviridov failed to return to the ship before it departed Seattle’s Elliot Bay, where it had been docked since Nov. 24 as part of a weeklong celebration of the end of the Cold War.
