The body of a woman was found on a rocky Encinitas shore Monday morning, about 30 feet below a cliff near E Street, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
The clothed body of the unidentified woman was found at 7:20 a.m. Monday, an investigator for the county medical examiner said, 500 feet south of the D Street stairs. The woman apparently suffered injuries in a fall, Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Wood said.
Deputies found the woman’s shoes at the top of the cliff and slide marks in the bank to the point where it drops off over the rocks, Wood said.
The woman was white, 35 to 40 years old, with curly strawberry-blond hair, Wood said. She was wearing socks, white stretch pants and a black sweat shirt with embroidery and rhinestones on it.
