More Network Bashing

This letter is in regards to James Erdnst’s commentary (Nov. 8, Teleview, TV Times) about “Failure-Shy Networks Don’t Hesitate to Give the Kiss-Off.â€

Boy, did he hit the nail right on the head. It seems after a show premieres, and if it’s not an instant Top 10 hit--it’s gone! This practice of the networks has been a thorn in my side for many a television season.

Never mind if it’s a quality show different from others with veteran and new actors alike and fast-paced writing. (Example: The Fifth Corner,†with Alex McArthur and James Coburn, from earlier this year. It never had a chance to build up any kind of audience.)

It seems if a show doesn’t have a hip, hairy teen-age cast with trendy clothes and problems it’s not given a fair chance.
