BURBANK : Suicide Suspected in Freeway Death
A person fatally struck by several motorists who did not stop on the Golden State Freeway in Burbank has been tentatively identified as a 47-year-old woman who may have committed suicide after an argument with her husband, police said Tuesday.
The victim was killed about 1 a.m. Monday when she was struck by several trucks and cars in the southbound lanes of the freeway below the Olive Avenue overpass, the California Highway Patrol reported. None of the motorists who struck the body stopped, many apparently not knowing that it was human remains they had run over, the CHP said.
Burbank Police Sgt. Don Goldberg said damage to the body was so extensive that investigators initially could not determine the sex or identity of the victim. However, Goldberg said, a Burbank man reported his wife missing Monday evening and police later located the woman’s car near the Olive Avenue overpass.
