Rancho Santiago Rallies for 29 in Fourth Quarter
FULLERTON — Backup quarterback Mister Albritton rallied Rancho Santiago from a 28-point fourth-quarter deficit for a stunning 29-28 Mission Conference victory over Fullerton College Saturday night at Cal State Fullerton.
Albritton’s bootleg run on the two-point conversion was the difference, completing a 29-point binge in the final 10 minutes. It followed Albritton’s 12-yard touchdown pass to Mark Flatten with 39 seconds left to pull the Dons to within 28-27.
Albritton, a freshman from Loara High who replaced injured starter Gabe Garcia in the second half, completed 10 of 16 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns. In the fourth quarter, he completed eight of nine for 192 yards.
Albritton also scored on a pair touchdown runs.
The victory improved the Dons to 3-7, 2-3 in the Central Division. Fullerton, which lost its fourth in a row, finished at 1-9 and 1-4.
