Van Nuys to Face Marshall for City 3-A Girls’ Volleyball Title
Revenge will motivate Van Nuys High against Marshall in the City Section 3-A Division girls’ volleyball final tonight at 5:30 at Cal State Northridge.
Van Nuys (14-1) is top-seeded, but the Wolves face a Marshall squad that has ousted them from the playoffs the last two years. Marshall defeated Van Nuys, 15-11, 7-15, 15-6, 15-12, in the semifinals last season and swept the Wolves in the 1990 3-A final, 15-12, 16-14, 15-1.
Van Nuys beat Marshall in tournament play this year, however.
Outside hitters Jenna Panatier and Cora Everding have been offensive weapons for the Wolves. Panatier had 15 kills Tuesday in a 15-5, 15-3, 15-9 semifinal win over Birmingham.
Marshall, 14-1 and the third-seeded team, upset second-seeded Poly, 15-12, 15-6, 15-6, in the semifinals.
