VENTURA : Ex-Officer Gets 90 Days in Theft
A former Ventura police officer was sentenced to 90 days in jail Thursday for stealing money from the city-owned pistol range.
Clifton L. Cox, 50, of Camarillo was arrested in July on charges that he stole between $636 and $2,180 from the pistol range, which he managed from 1988 until 1992. Investigators said Cox pocketed payments from police officers who used the range for training.
He pleaded guilty in September to a felony count of grand theft and prosecutors agreed to drop an additional count of embezzlement of public funds.
