La Mirada’s No. 1 singles player continues to impress. After helping her team to a fifth straight undefeated Suburban League championship by posting a perfect 30-0 league record, she remained unbeaten in the playoffs with six victories. Arredondo recorded three victories in her team’s 15-3 first-round triumph over San Gorgonio. She followed with three more wins in a 13-5 decision over Lompoc. La Mirada Coach Krystal Meier said, “(Arredondo) has surpassed all expectations I had for her this year.”
Other top prep performers:
Michelle Wineke led Gahr High of Cerritos to a pair of CIF Division II volleyball playoff victories. In Gahr’s 15-4, 15-9, 15-10 win over Wilson, Wineke had 18 kills. She then recorded 10 kills and seven service aces as the Gladiators defeated Chaminade, 15-9, 15-6, 15-13 in second-round action.
Cindy Holwerda, Valley Christian tennis player, won five of her six matches in the playoffs. She posted three wins in her team’s 16-2 victory over Montclair, then recorded an additional two wins in her team’s season-ending 13-5 loss to Crossroads.
