Ventura police on Tuesday arrested a man who twice approached a motel guest for money and then returned to her room a third time with a gun and robbed her and her husband.
Police arrested the man, whose identity was not immediately released, after he fled on foot following the robbery at the Motel 6 at 3075 Johnson Drive, said Ventura Desk Officer Graham Jeffrey.
Jeffrey said the man had returned to the room a third time about 3:30 p.m. after being turned away twice in his request for cash. On one of the trips to the room, Jeffrey said the man had two young children with him.
On the third attempt, the man responded to the guest’s refusal by pulling out a handgun, pointing it at her husband’s face and coming into the couple’s room. Once inside, he demanded that they get down on their hands and knees and took $400 to $500 from them.
