PerfectData Reports 40% Profit Drop in 2nd Quarter
PerfectData Corp., a Simi Valley supplier of computer maintenance equipment, said its fiscal second-quarter profit fell 40% from a year earlier on a 6% sales decline.
In the quarter ended Sept. 30, PerfectData’s net income fell to $92,000 from $153,000 a year earlier, while its sales dropped to $1.85 million from $1.96 million.
Lee R. Mannheimer, president and chief executive, noted that the company incurred costs related to new-product introductions in the latest quarter. “We are not at all surprised nor disappointed with the current quarter and six-month results,†he said in a statement.
In the first half of its fiscal year, PerfectData’s profit fell 18%, to $240,000 from $292,000 a year earlier, and its six-month sales edged up 4%, to $3.8 million from $3.67 million.
