The State of the Tube: Bill Clinton said that television and movies’ “banalization of sex and violence in the popular culture is a net negative for America.” In an article he wrote for TV Guide magazine, which hits newsstands today, the President-elect said that he thinks the entertainment media should “raise the human spirit.” Clinton said that as President, he would continue to use call-in televised town meetings, CNN’s “Larry King Live” and programs on MTV in order to reach Americans. He noted that his favorite show is CBS’ “Evening Shade,” the creation of his friends Linda Bloodworth-Thomason and Harry Thomason.
