BURBANK : Council Will Again Waive Pay Raise

The Burbank City Council has unanimously agreed to forgo a pay raise for the second consecutive year, citing sacrifices made by city employees who gave up cost-of-living increases to save city jobs.

The decision at Tuesday’s council meeting came after city staff members submitted a report saying council members were allowed to increase their pay from $803 a month to $843 monthly under the city municipal code.

Council members said it would be inappropriate for them to raise their own pay when four city unions have agreed to pay freezes to help balance the city’s 1992-93 budget, which was approved in June.
