Northeast L.A. : Workshops on Taylor Yard
Councilman Mike Hernandez has organized a three-day public workshop, beginning Friday, for area residents to discuss development of the 250-acre Taylor Yard.
Representatives from the American Institute of Architects will interview participants about what types of projects would best serve the public’s needs. The architects will include the comments in a report to Hernandez, which will guide him in discussions with prospective developers, said Ed Reyes, the councilman’s planning deputy.
“We want to create a setting where community people can come in and articulate their own vision in terms of needs and desires, and their fears in relation to projects they don’t want to see,†he said.
The workshops will be in the California Room of Lawry’s California Center, 570 West Ave. 26, Cypress Park. Hours are 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
