LOS ANGELES COUNTY : Board to Speed Search for Successor to Dixon
- Share via
The Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to speed up the search for a successor to Chief Administrative Officer Richard Dixon, who has announced he will retire before the end of the year.
By a 3-2 vote, the board ordered a committee of supervisors’ deputies to meet immediately and begin the process of recruiting a new CAO. The committee was established months ago but has not been meeting regularly.
The motion, written by Supervisor Deane Dana, requires the search committee to report to the board in two weeks. Supervisors Gloria Molina and Ed Edelman joined Dana in supporting the motion.
Supervisors Michael Antonovich and Kenneth Hahn voted against the motion, saying the search should be postponed until the new supervisor for the second district--Yvonne Brathwaite Burke or state Sen. Diane Watson--is inaugurated in December.
