Fourth-Quarter Rally Leads Mavericks Over Clippers
DALLAS — Mike Iuzzolino scored 22 points, including five during a 15-0 run in the fourth quarter, leading the Dallas Mavericks to a 107-95 exhibition victory over the Clippers Friday night.
It was Dallas’ first exhibition victory after five defeats. The Clippers’ exhibition record fell to 3-2.
The Clippers led, 93-86, with five minutes to play on Sebastian Neal’s dunk before the Mavericks’ run. Iuzzolino’s three-pointer cut the Clippers’ lead to 93-90 with 4:44 left and his two free throws reduced the lead to one before Brian Howard made two free throws with 3:43 remaining to give Dallas the lead for good, 94-93.
Danny Manning scored 15 of his 20 points in the first half as the Clippers took a 57-45 advantage at the intermission.
The Clippers increased their lead to 77-58 with five minutes left in the third quarter on Manning’s short jumper.
Mark Jackson and Ron Harper scored 17 points apiece for the Clippers.
Sean Rooks added 16 for the Mavericks, who were without injured starters Derek Harper, Doug Smith and Terry Davis.
