MAYWOOD : Man Shoots Women in ‘Carjacking’ Try
A suspect was taken into custody after two young women suffered minor wounds when they were shot during an attempted “carjacking†in the parking lot of a Maywood liquor store, police said Friday.
A reputed gang member, believed to be in his late teens, allegedly approached the two victims as they were getting into a 1991 Ford Escort in the parking lot of the El Toro Liquor Store, 5501 Atlantic Blvd., Thursday night about 9:30, said police Sgt. K. Brewer.
Brewer said the suspect demanded that the women, both in their early 20s, give him their car. “One of the girls screamed and he shot both,†Brewer said.
