Beverly Hills Director of Recreation and Parks Richard Putnam has announced that he will resign Nov. 6 to take a similar post in Santa Clarita.
A Granada Hills resident, Putnam will be responsible for developing a parks and recreation system in Santa Clarita, which incorporated in 1987.
Putnam has worked for Beverly Hills for 12 years. As director of recreation and parks for 10 years, Putnam oversaw a system that includes 12 parks and mini-parks and an annual operating budget of $7 million.
Steve Miller, the city’s superintendent of recreation, will serve as acting director of recreation and parks until a permanent successor is named.
