Top-seeded Michael Chang beat ailing Goran Prpic of Croatia, 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 6-3, to reach the final of the Hong Kong Championships. Prpic aggravated a knee injury in the first game of the final set.
In the other semifinal, second-seeded Ivan Lendl defeated Richard Krajicek of the Netherlands, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3.
