College of the Desert 21, Antelope Valley 12--Delvin Myles returned the opening kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown and the host Roadrunners handed Antelope Valley its second consecutive Foothill Conference loss.
Antelope Valley (4-2-1, 3-2) answered Myles’ return with a score of its own when Al Dawkins ran in from the two-yard line.
However, the point-after kick was blocked and Desert led, 7-6.
Desert extended its lead to 14-6 when Marcus Nesbitt turned a 17-yard pass from Robert Hendrix into a score.
The Marauders rallied late in the second quarter when Chelsa Blanks caught a 32-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Callahan to make it 14-12. Antelope Valley’s two-point conversion attempt failed.
Desert scored the only points of the second half when Yero Craig ran in from the three in the third quarter.
The game started 45 minutes late because Antelope Valley’s bus broke down in Wrightwood.
