SAN FERNANDO VALLEY : Coalition Seeks to Regain Seat on School Board
A San Fernando Valley coalition took steps Friday to launch a petition drive to regain representation on the Los Angeles Unified School District board that was partially lost to a redistricting plan last summer.
The Coalition Against Unfair School Elections, or CAUSE, is seeking to place a new district map on the June ballot that would give the Valley two seats on the school board. It needs 48,000 signatures.
One of two “Valley seats†was lost in July after the Los Angeles City Council approved a plan to redraw the city’s seven districts so that two would have majorities of Latino voters.
