President Bush and the Economy

I applaud John Sununu’s “Give Bush Credit Where It’s Due” (Commentary, Oct. 13). This year’s presidential campaign has been mired in half-truths perpetuated by an iconoclastic media that have attempted to overshadow the many historic accomplishment of the Reagan/Bush era. It’s about time that we follow Sununu’s lead and recognize these landmarks.
The United States has the most revered and envied standard of living and national security in the world in spite of a recession-laden global economy.
Those of us who yearn for yet more progress and growth need to give President Bush a mandate to govern and shake up a politically motivated Congress. Our message must be to address the many domestic programs already on the table and finish the job started four years ago.
The last time we let the Democratic Party enjoy a free-for-all it cost us the American dollar as well as our self-respect.
