County Will Train 1,700 Poll Workers
The Ventura County Elections Division will begin training more than 1,700 polling place workers for Election Day duty next week.
The first class begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Oxnard Community Center. Classes in other cities throughout the county will continue through Oct. 28.
Polling place clerks earn $50 for the 16-hour day, while election inspectors earn $63.
Although 1,748 people have already signed up to work on Nov. 2 checking addresses and handing out ballots, the division still needs more workers, said Tracy Saucedo, elections officer and polling place supervisor.
“People can still sign up to work,†she said. “We get cancellations every day.â€
Those interested should call the Elections Division at 654-2785.
